Bathurst - Education Centre

Education is the largest industry in Bathurst, with an annual turnover of around $110 million. The city provides students of all ages with lifelong educational opportunities. The educational organisations in Bathurst are pursuing excellence in the areas in which they practice.

Bathurst provides a wide range of educational opportunities from pre-school through to tertiary institutes such as Charles Sturt University. It is not surprising that in 1993 over 55,000 people visited educational institutions in Bathurst. Over one third of students are from outside of Bathurst and a proportion from overseas.


Bathurst is home to two major tertiary institutes in the form of Charles Sturt University and the Western Institute of TAFE.

Charles Sturt University (CSU) has campuses in Bathurst, Albury and Wagga. The University has five faculties encompassing Arts, Commerce, Education, Health Studies and Science, and Agriculture. CSU is the largest distance education provider in Australia and caters to over 16,000 students.

The Western Institute of TAFE has two campuses in Bathurst. The College has 12 Industry Training Divisions including arts and media, building and construction, business services, computing and information services, engineering services, rural and mining services and tourism and hospitality.


Bathurst provides a range of both private and public co-educational or single sex secondary schooling education.

Four private high schools and two public high schools offer academic standards equal to any in the state. The schools provide excellent academic, recreational and cultural facilities in a safe, healthy, country environment.

All Saints' College, www.saints.nsw.edu.au, is a co-educational Anglican School catering from Transition to Year 12, with boarding from year 7.

 

 

The Scots School, www.scots.nsw.edu.au, a Presbyterian Church School, is a small co-educational day and boarding school from Kindergarten to Year 12, with boarding from year 7.

 

 

St Stanislaus College http://stannies.nsw.edu.au is a Catholic day and boarding school for boys, run by the Vincentian Order.

MacKillop College provides day and boarding facilities for girls. The college is part of the Bathurst Catholic Diocese and the Boarding College is run by the Sisters of St Joseph.

Bathurst High School and Kelso High School are both progressive co-educational secondary public schools.
